Russell wants change to 'Get out of Jail free' F1 corner
During the Italian Grand Prix, George Russell, driving for Mercedes, went off track twice. The first time was during a battle with Sergio Perez, and the second time was when he came out of the pits alongside Esteban Ocon. On the second occasion, Russell was penalized for gaining an advantage and not giving back the place. However, the penalty didn’t affect his fifth position in the race. Russell admitted that he took a risk by going hot into Turn 1 to stay ahead of Ocon and maintain his chances of undercutting the cars ahead. He also expressed his desire to see changes in that corner. Despite the penalty and lack of pace, Russell was pleased with his battle against Perez and mentioned that the Mercedes car tends to perform better in higher downforce settings. He anticipates being more competitive in the upcoming race in Singapore.
