Rising Talent: Paul Aron’s Spectacular F1 Debut with Sauber at British and Hungarian Grands Prix

Alpine and Sauber have reached an agreement to loan out reserve driver Paul Aron to Sauber, allowing the Estonian to participate in FP1 sessions for the team in Silverstone and Budapest.

Sauber lacked designated reserve drivers for this season, requiring a rookie driver for two FP1 sessions, leading to the deal with Alpine’s former F2 frontrunner, Aron.

Aron, currently on Alpine’s reserve roster, will drive Sauber’s C45 in FP1 at Silverstone and Budapest, standing in for Nico Hulkenberg before returning to Alpine duties. Sauber’s rookies slots are also filled by Gabriel Bortoleto.

Aron expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of track time in Formula 1 for his career progression, while also looking forward to contributing to Sauber’s sessions at Silverstone and Budapest.

Additionally, Aron will handle Enstone squad’s remaining FP1 obligations, while Alpine is likely to retain Franco Colapinto alongside Pierre Gasly and may consider Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas as an option if Colapinto’s performance does not improve.
