Layne Riggs finished second in the NASCAR Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, matching his best result this year with an impressive charge through the field. He battled Carson Hocevar for the win, but Hocevar held on for victory. Riggs’ No. 34 truck failed post-race inspection, leading to his disqualification and loss of points.
The disqualification was due to a violation of rule 14.4.9.A.3 regarding the material and sealing of the bed cover. This incident is part of several issues seen in post-race inspections this year in NASCAR across various series. Notable disqualifications include Parker Kligerman at Daytona (ride height), Jesse Love at Rockingham (rear suspension), and Ryan Preece, Joey Logano, and Erik Jones in different races.
Riggs was set to be in sixth place in the championship but now drops to ninth in the regular season standings. NASCAR’s strict enforcement of rules and post-race inspections aims to maintain fair competition and integrity in the sport.
