Riley Herbst scores emotional first Xfinity win at Vegas
Riley Herbst, driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, took the lead from Cole Custer in the last lap to win Stage 2, and then went on to dominate the final stage. He built a solid lead and expanded it during the final round of green flag pit stops, ultimately winning by a margin of 14.959 seconds over John Hunter Nemechek. This was Herbst’s first career win in 139 starts, and it was a redemption for him after failing to qualify for the playoffs this season. Custer finished third, Chandler Smith fourth, and Sam Mayer rounded out the top five. With two races remaining in the semifinal round of the playoffs, Sheldon Creed, Sammy Smith, Mayer, and Chandler Smith are the drivers in danger of elimination.
