Red Bull has introduced a new sidepod package for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in their ongoing efforts to catch up with Formula 1 championship leader McLaren. The team has made adjustments to the inlet arrangement of the RB21, aligning it more closely with McLaren’s design while enhancing aerodynamic efficiency.
In response, McLaren has brought updates to its own car, focusing on new aerodynamic components around the rear corner to increase rear aerodynamic load and flow conditioning. McLaren also brought a higher-downforce rear wing to the Imola circuit for improved performance at lower speeds.
Ferrari and Mercedes have also made notable changes to their cars for the race at Imola. Ferrari introduced a higher-downforce rear wing and revised brake scoop geometry, anticipating a performance boost, while Mercedes concentrated on front-end modifications to optimize the flow field and enhance rear wing performance.
Amidst the midfield competition, Aston Martin, Haas, Alpine, and Racing Bulls have all introduced various new parts to their cars. These updates include changes to the floor, edge, diffuser, and bodywork components aimed at extracting more downforce and improving consistency at different ride heights.
Overall, the technical developments across teams for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix showcase a strategic approach to maximizing each car’s performance on the unique challenges of the Imola circuit.
