Reviving History: A Colorful Look Back at the 1950 British Grand Prix

Formula 1 has released colorized footage of its very first world championship race at Silverstone 75 years ago.

On 13 May 1950, the British Grand Prix featured 21 cars on the grid, including Alfa Romeos, Maseratis, Talbot Lagos, Altas, and ERAs.

Ferrari did not participate, focusing on the Monaco race, and Alfa dominated with a 1-2-3-4 in qualifying, and the same in the race.

The colorized footage shows the four-car front row of Alfa Romeo, including Giuseppe Farina and Juan Fangio.

The race saw Alfa Romeo finish 1-2-3, with Fangio retiring due to a broken oil pipe.

The restored footage used advanced AI software and manual painting to bring the historic race to life.
