While fans of old school venues may have wanted Imola to stay on the calendar, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix hasn’t consistently delivered since its modern F1 return. However, Pirelli’s shift to softer compounds and a race affected by two neutralisations provided the strategic excitement long sought at the Imola GP. The reigning world champion impressed with a strong lap one attack, leaving McLaren to question why Red Bull could match their pace just two weeks after a different outcome in the previous race. Red Bull and Max Verstappen received a much-needed boost with the emphatic victory at Imola, giving them momentum after a run of defeats. Despite McLaren’s underwhelming performance at Imola, there’s no need for panic yet, as the upcoming upgrades could turn the tide in their favor. Yuki Tsunoda’s struggles at Red Bull continued at Imola, highlighted by a qualifying accident and a lack of comfort pushing the RB21 to its limits.
