McLaren driver Oscar Piastri set the fastest time in the second practice session at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, overtaking Mercedes driver George Russell. Lando Norris initially led the session, but Russell later set the pace with a time of 1m13.046s. Piastri then took command with a time of 1m12.760s on soft tires, staying on top until the end of the session. The Australian driver was followed by Russell, Verstappen, and Norris in the top positions. Fernando Alonso impressed with a seventh-place finish in front of his home crowd. Additionally, Oliver Bearman spun into the gravel early in the session, but no injuries occurred.
