Penske’s Newgarden loses St. Pete IndyCar race win after violation
After an extensive review, two drivers were removed from the race results due to using push-to-pass on restarts. As a result, Pato O’Ward was declared the winner, followed by Will Power in second and Colton Herta in third. Team Penske manipulated the overtake system, leading to violations discovered during the Grand Prix of Long Beach warmup session. All three Team Penske cars were fined $25,000 and forfeited prize money for the race. The championship leader is now Scott Dixon, with Herta just two points behind. Team Penske accepted the penalties and acknowledged the push-to-pass software should have been removed before the race.
