Red Bull team principal Christian Horner reiterated that Max Verstappen’s primary focus should remain on Formula 1 despite his recent secret test at the Nurburgring in a Ferrari GT3 car under the alias “Franz Hermann”.
Verstappen’s passion for various forms of racing was highlighted by his record-breaking performance at the Nurburgring, sparking speculation about his potential participation in events like the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
While Horner appreciates Verstappen’s versatility in motorsport, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing F1 commitments and ruled out the Dutch driver missing a race for other competitions.
Although Red Bull has historically allowed its drivers more freedom in exploring different racing disciplines, the team will ensure that Verstappen strikes the right balance between his extracurricular interests and his responsibilities in F1.
Looking ahead, Verstappen’s association with Ferrari could pose a challenge once Ford becomes a technical partner at Red Bull in the future, potentially complicating the optics of a Ford-backed driver racing in a Ferrari-powered car.
