Last summer, Simone Resta had the chance to focus on his garden after 23 years. However, his priority was preparing for a move to the UK to join Mercedes as the strategic development director. His new role at Mercedes was later revised to ‘deputy technical director’ under James Allison, with whom he had worked at Ferrari before. Resta, a long-time Ferrari employee, had worked his way up to technical director before joining Mercedes.
