MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez secured pole position at the Italian Grand Prix, narrowly edging out local hero Francesco Bagnaia for a factory Ducati 1-2. The six-time world champion set the fastest time early in the session with assistance from his brother Alex, placing them at the forefront at Mugello. While other riders briefly surpassed Marquez, he reclaimed his position to qualify first. Bagnaia settled for second place, trailing Marquez by just over five-hundredths of a second, with Alex Marquez in third. Quartararo, Quartararo, Bagnaia, and Alex Marquez completed the top spots in a closely contested qualifying session.
