Luca Ghiotto to make IndyCar debut with Dale Coyne Racing at Barber
Italian racer Luca Ghiotto, aged 29, recently participated in the European Le Mans Championship’s opening round this year with Inter Europol Competition, finishing eighth at the Four Hours of Barcelona. Prior to this, Ghiotto had a successful career in F1 feeder series from 2016 to 2020, achieving seven wins and reaching a high of third place in the 2019 championship with Virtuosi Racing. Ghiotto also served as the test and simulator driver for the Nissan Formula E team in 2022-23. Making his NTT IndyCar Series debut this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, Ghiotto expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, although acknowledging the challenges of adapting to a new car and track. Team owner Dale Coyne emphasized Ghiotto’s wealth of racing experience and expressed confidence in his abilities to perform well in the upcoming races at Birmingham, Alabama, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ghiotto, who also tested for the Williams F1 team in 2017, is poised to bring valuable expertise to the Dale Coyne Racing team in his debut races in the NTT IndyCar Series.
