Lewis Hamilton and George Russell blast FIA president’s swearing ban U-turn

Lewis Hamilton criticized the FIA president’s decision to reverse the swearing ban, calling the situation “ridiculous” and “a mess”.

George Russell expressed suspicion about Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s intentions in revising penalties for drivers who swear, calling the changes “a bit suspect”.

The FIA faced backlash for the original plans to fine F1 drivers €40,000 for swearing, with a ban for repeat offenses, but the penalties have now been reduced to €5,000 without a ban.

Hamilton described the situation as “ridiculous” and highlighted the need for further changes in F1.

Russell, a director of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, criticized the FIA’s approach, pointing out the lack of direct communication from senior FIA officials and the need for meaningful dialogue to address issues in the sport.
