Williams team principal James Vowles supports Carlos Sainz Sr’s potential FIA presidential campaign, believing he would be a good fit due to his vast experience in motorsport. Sainz Sr, father of current Williams F1 driver Carlos Sainz, is considering running against incumbent Mohammed Ben Sulayem for the FIA presidency. Despite concerns about a conflict of interest because of his son’s F1 career, Sainz Sr’s hands-off approach to his son’s choices eases worries. Vowles trusts that any potential impact on his son’s racing career could be managed effectively if Sainz Sr were successful. The elder Sainz’s diverse motorsport background and leadership experience could make him a strong candidate for the FIA presidency. Sainz Sr will decide shortly whether to officially announce his candidacy after assessing support to challenge Ben Sulayem.
