Lewis Hamilton demonstrated his continued dominance at Silverstone by setting the fastest lap time during the first practice session at Ferrari, where he now races.
Despite some struggles since joining Ferrari, Hamilton managed to keep his fellow British driver, Lando Norris, at bay with an impressive performance in front of the home crowd.
Norris finished second, ahead of his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, while Charles Leclerc secured fourth place for Ferrari, indicating a positive trend in the team’s performance.
George Russell briefly topped the timing sheets in FP1 before settling for fifth place, with Max Verstappen in 10th and newcomer Arvin Lindblad not far behind in his Red Bull debut.
Several drivers, including Pierre Gasly and Gabriel Bortoleto, had some tense moments on track, showcasing the challenging nature of the iconic Silverstone circuit.
While Nico Hulkenberg sat out FP1 and was replaced by Paul Aron, Sauber will be seeking to replicate their recent double points finish at the Red Bull Ring in the upcoming British Grand Prix.
