Glimpse into the Glitz of the ‘F1’ Movie Premiere in New York: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Racing Stars’ Absences

Following the Canadian Grand Prix, the F1 paddock rushed from Montreal to Manhattan for the world premiere of the ‘F1’ movie at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, captivating drivers and celebrities alike. Despite a hectic schedule, 15 out of the grid’s 20 drivers landed in the Big Apple on Monday morning, quickly preparing for the red carpet event in Times Square.

Notable absences included Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, who flew back to Italy for school exams after his podium finish, and championship leader Oscar Piastri, who had prior commitments with McLaren in the US. Max Verstappen took a detour to visit his newborn daughter before testing his team’s GT3 car, and both Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso opted not to attend.

Though the premiere was a star-studded affair, the drivers had already watched the film in Monaco, missing out on the New York viewing. Lewis Hamilton, in Dior and a distinctive goat brooch, graced the stage before the screening, while F1 personalities like Will Buxton, David Croft, and Martin Brundle mingled with fans at the after party at Cipriani after a photo op at Top of the Rock.
