Adrien Fourmaux unfortunately had to withdraw from the Rally Portugal victory battle due to unforeseen circumstances, easing the pressure on his Hyundai teammate Ott Tanak, who was leading the rally.
Both Tanak and Fourmaux were locked in a fierce competition for victory after Hyundai’s strong performance on the tricky gravel stages in Portugal.
Despite staying close to Tanak in the initial stages, Fourmaux’s rally came to an abrupt end in stage eight due to sudden car issues.
The incident, which caused damage to the left front suspension, led to a shake-up in the leaderboard, impacting the overall rally standings.
As Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville claimed the stage win, Tanak managed to extend his lead despite facing challenges with his i20 N’s balance and a broken windscreen.
Sebastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanpera also faced their own set of challenges during the rally, showcasing the competitive and demanding nature of the event.
