Flavio Briatore Challenges Alpine’s F1 Strategy for Rising Star Franco Colapinto

Alpine team leader Flavio Briatore has contradicted his squad’s announcement regarding Franco Colapinto’s promotion to a race seat for the next five Formula 1 rounds.

Despite the initial announcement on May 7th, stating Colapinto would replace Jack Doohan for the upcoming races, Briatore clarified that there is no set limit on Colapinto’s races.

Briatore emphasized that Colapinto’s performance will determine his continued participation in races, highlighting the need for speed, avoiding crashes, and scoring points.

Following Oliver Oakes’ resignation as team principal, Briatore assumed full leadership of the Alpine F1 team, with no specific title.

Despite the organizational changes, Briatore maintained that the team’s structure remains mostly unchanged, with Dave Greenwood assigned as the team representative for administrative purposes.

Briatore humorously concluded by expressing confidence in his leadership role, noting his past success with Benetton and Renault in the 1990s and 2000s.
