FIA allows F1 drivers extra pit exit practice starts in Las Vegas
In preparation for the race weekend, Wittich clarified that starts were not allowed at the pit exit, but only on the grid at the end of practice sessions. However, both FP1 and FP3 had red flags, limiting the teams’ opportunities to practice starts. To address this, Wittich issued new notes allowing drivers to conduct practice starts at the pit exit during their final reconnaissance laps. They were also given permission to cross the pit exit white line if necessary. Some teams expressed concern about the lack of practice and the unknown track conditions. McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, believed that the difficulties would arise from the low level of grip, particularly during braking on the long straights.
