Ferrari was surprised by the disqualification of its #50 499P Hypercar from fourth place in the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours, citing safety concerns and potential performance advantages.
The stewards argued that the car was not compliant with technical regulations, specifically due to the rear wing lacking four bolts, resulting in a rear wing deflection of 52mm – well above the allowed 15mm.
Ferrari defended its position, stating that the missing bolts did not compromise safety and that the performance benefits were not significant, as the top speed was recorded while running behind another car.
The team maintained that the incident did not provide a competitive advantage or compromise safety, expressing confidence in the World Endurance Championship’s regulations.
Despite the disagreement with the stewards’ decision, Ferrari did not directly criticize the stewardship but emphasized their commitment to following the rules of the championship.
