DTM champion Preining "can imagine" LMDh future after Porsche test
Thomas Preining, the Austrian racer, recently had the opportunity to test Porsche’s new prototype racer at the Bahrain International Circuit. After a successful season in the DTM with the 911 GT3, Porsche nominated him for the World Endurance Championship rookie test. In the test, Preining completed 82 laps and posted an impressive lap time just two tenths shy of the race driver’s time. While an immediate move to the top classes of WEC or IMSA SportsCar Championship is unlikely, Preining could be considered for future vacancies in Porsche’s LMDh line-ups in 2025. Preining expressed his interest in racing the new prototype in the future and pursuing victories at Le Mans and Daytona. He also mentioned that the possibility of racing in the LMGT3 class next year is being discussed, but no decision has been made yet. Preining is expected to defend his DTM title next year, but the details of his exact program for 2024 have not been determined.
