Controversy Strikes as Lewis Hamilton Penalized for Blocking Max Verstappen at F1 Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has been given a three-place grid penalty for impeding Max Verstappen during qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. Verstappen had to abandon a lap due to Hamilton’s slow-moving Ferrari blocking him on the circuit. Both drivers were summoned by FIA race stewards immediately after qualifying, leading to Hamilton’s penalty. The stewards determined that Hamilton’s team provided incorrect information, causing the impeding incident. Despite the penalty, Verstappen acknowledged the situation and absolved Hamilton of blame, understanding it was a team error. The penalty means Hamilton will start seventh, allowing Verstappen and others to move up the grid in a race where overtaking is challenging. Lance Stroll also received a penalty for impeding Pierre Gasly, affecting the starting positions for the Grand Prix.
