Despite leading the team to multiple championship wins, including titles with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, Horner faced consequences for the recent decline in performance and key team member departures. He informed the factory staff of his departure in a speech broadcasted by Sky Sports, stating he will remain employed by the company in an unknown capacity. Laurent Mekies will replace Horner as Red Bull F1 CEO and team principal, leaving his position at Red Bull’s sister team to take over the leadership immediately. The team aims to build on past successes under Mekies’ guidance, while acknowledging and appreciating Horner’s contributions during his time at the helm.
