Appeals panel reduces points penalty for Chris Buescher and RFK Racing

After the Kansas race weekend, the No. 17 RFK Racing Ford team and driver Chris Buescher were penalized for violating the front fascia strengthening rule when the car was inspected at the NASCAR R&D Center.

The penalties included losing 60 driver and owner points, five playoff points, a $75,000 fine, and a two-race suspension for crew chief Scott Graves.

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel upheld most penalties but reduced the driver and owner points penalty from 60 to 30 points due to specifics in the rule book.

The ruling moved Buescher from 23rd to 16th in the regular season standings, impacting the championship standings.

RFK Racing responded positively to the decision, stating their commitment to adhering to NASCAR rules and focusing on the upcoming race in Nashville.
