McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri had differing opinions on their team’s chances in the Las Vegas Grand Prix
In an extended and delayed second practice, Norris finished 11th and Piastri finished 14th, as McLaren struggled on the low-grip, low-downforce Vegas circuit. Norris expressed his negative outlook on the team’s prospects, stating that they are a long way off from their impressive recent results. He compared their struggles to previous low downforce circuits like Monza. Norris described the day as tough and tricky, with poor grip and difficulty in finding balance and consistency in the car. Piastri, on the other hand, was more upbeat, seeing some improvement in the long run. He mentioned the slippery track and the mixed pecking order due to tire difficulties in the cool night temperatures. Piastri also expressed hope for the return of fans and a better day tomorrow.
