Jorge Martin smashed the MotoGP lap record during the second practice session for this weekend’s Grand Prix of the Americas
The Pramac rider’s incredible 2:01.397s time initially gave him a significant lead of over half a second over the competition, until the final runs shuffled the order. Maverick Vinales impressed again, finishing second, while his team-mate Aleix Espargaro also secured a spot in Q2. Enea Bastianini sailed through to fourth place comfortably, but Francesco Bagnaia needed a late push to secure eighth. Pedro Acosta shone for the KTM camp, but his team-mate and the rest of the team face challenges in tomorrow’s qualifying session. The Marquez brothers had a mixed session, with Marc in third position and Alex missing out on advancing to Q2. Yamaha riders outperformed LCR and factory Honda, with Johann Zarco leading Honda ahead of Joan Mir and Luca Marini on the time sheets.
