Alonso Lopez batted away the advances of a charging Barry Baltus to secure victory in Qatar, while pre-season Moto2 title
“Lopez seized the lead from Canet after a poor start, but it was short-lived as Canet overtook him a few laps later. Canet struggled with tire grip, allowing Lopez and Gonzalez to pass him again. Lopez held on to the lead despite pressure from Baltus and Garcia. In a close finish, Lopez secured the win by 0.055s, with Baltus taking his first Moto2 podium. Garcia claimed third, while Canet dropped to fourth. The American Racing team had a strong comeback with American rider finishing sixth. Aldeguer had a challenging race, finishing in 16th place.”
