On Thursday, Dale Coyne Racing announced that Luca Ghiotto would be driving the team’s #51 entry for the race at
Luca Ghiotto, with four years of Formula 2 experience, finished 10th in the 2020 championship driving for Hitech Grand Prix. Following his Formula 2 stint, he raced in the GT World Challenge series and worked as Nissan’s Formula E simulator driver. Ghiotto, 29, is set to debut in the NTT IndyCar Series at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend and will return for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course race in two weeks. Team owner Dale Coyne plans to run two cars in all 17 races this season, with Luca Ghiotto and Jack Harvey handling driving duties. The physically demanding Barber circuit poses a challenge for Ghiotto, who will face a steep learning curve without prior testing. Ghiotto and teammate Harvey will race the #18 car in Sunday’s main event after practicing on Friday.
