A chaotic start to the F1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix left two drivers out on the spot and ruined the afternoon for another two.
During the race, there was a collision between Alex Albon from Williams, Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg from Haas, Oscar Piastri from McLaren, and Daniel Ricciardo from AlphaTauri. Albon and Magnussen had to retire, while Piastri and Ricciardo managed to get their cars fixed under a red flag. Albon’s onboard footage showed that he was hit by Hulkenberg, which then caused him to collide with Magnussen. Magnussen explained that Albon squeezed Hulkenberg, leading to the chain reaction. Albon believed it was a racing incident, as he felt he had a strong start but was blindsided by the driver on the inside. Hulkenberg, who continued and finished 12th, felt he couldn’t avoid the collision and got sandwiched between his teammate and Albon. He compared it to a similar incident in a previous race.
