In just three WorldSBK seasons of winning races, Alvaro Bautista has already matched Carl Fogarty’s win total for the Italian manufacturer of 59.
In 2023, Bautista became a back-to-back WorldSBK champion, successfully defending the #1 plate and surpassing Toprak Razgatlioglu as the top rider. Despite his impressive stats from last year, 2024 could bring even greater accomplishments. Bautista won an incredible 27 races in 2023, breaking the record for most wins in a season. To break his own record for a second consecutive season, he will need to win 28 races out of the 36 scheduled races. While winning more than 77% of the races will be challenging due to changes in the Superbike grid, Bautista has more attainable records in sight. He only needs one more win to surpass Carl Fogarty and become Ducati’s most successful rider in WorldSBK from a wins perspective. Winning a third consecutive title would also make him Ducati’s first-ever three-time champion and the first Spaniard to achieve such a feat. If Bautista claims the 2024 Superbike title, he will join Fogarty and Australian Troy Bayliss as one of just three Ducati riders to have won more than two titles.
