Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti says it is ‘unacceptable’ that Qatar winner Fabio di Giannantonio does not have a MotoGP ride for 2024.
According to Paolo Ciabatti, the sporting director of Ducati, they may be able to offer Fabio di Giannantonio some wild-card rides if he is unable to secure a full-time seat in MotoGP next year. Di Giannantonio has lost his Gresini place to Marc Marquez, who is rumored to be taking Luca Marini’s Repsol Honda seat. Joining Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team seems to be di Giannantonio’s only remaining chance. However, VR46 is looking for a young rider from Moto2 and is currently in talks with Fermin Aldeguer and Tony Arbolino. Ciabatti expressed his disappointment that di Giannantonio doesn’t have a ride yet for next year, considering his recent performances, and hopes he can find one. If not, Ducati may try to offer him something, but the number of wild-cards next year might be limited due to new rules. Nevertheless, Ciabatti hopes that di Giannantonio can secure a ride for the full season.
