Two riders lost their lives in the Brazilian motorcycle racing championship at Cascavel.
“Érico Veríssimo and André Veríssimo Cardoso were involved in a serious accident during the Moto 1000 race. They did not survive their injuries and were pronounced dead at the hospital. André Veríssimo Cardoso, 42 years old, fell off his bike during the first lap while others were accelerating behind him. He was then hit by Érico Veríssimo da Rocha, 38 years old, who could not avoid the collision and was thrown from his own bike. Both riders were taken to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. In light of this tragedy, the race was immediately stopped and all other activities for the championship round were cancelled as a sign of respect.”
