Jorge Martin has pledged to throw caution to the wind in the remaining pair of rounds as he seeks to overturn Francesco Bagnaia’s 14-point MotoGP title lead.
“The Spaniard is determined to become the first satellite rider to win the MotoGP championship, with reigning champion Bagnaia currently holding a narrow points lead. However, Martin has nothing to lose as he is already guaranteed at least the second position in the championship standings. His goal is to attack and recover as many points as possible, even if it means taking risks. Martin acknowledges the pressure and the potential for mistakes that could cost him the championship. Bagnaia, on the other hand, believes that unless Jorge has a problem, it is unlikely that he will be able to gain enough points to clinch the title. He plans to approach the weekend as a normal one, focusing on pushing his limits and being at the front of the pack. The biggest unknown heading into the weekend is the new Lusail asphalt, which could pose a challenge for the tires. Overall, having eight Ducati riders on the track will provide an opportunity to try different approaches and quickly evaluate the best tire options.”
