Marc Marquez will have a new crew chief for the first time in his MotoGP career next season, after Santi Hernandez has been replaced by Frankie Carchedi following Marquez’ switch to Gresini.
Marquez had a strong performance in Practice 2, securing a top ten spot and avoiding Q1 on Saturday. He was the fastest Honda rider, finishing six tenths off the top time set by Aleix Espargaro. The big news of the day was the announcement that Marquez will have a new crew chief, Frankie Carchedi. Marquez acknowledged that it will be strange to work with someone new after 13 years with his previous crew chief, Santi Hernandez, but he trusts the skills of Carchedi. Despite a small issue during the time attack, Marquez had a positive day of practice and feels confident heading into the double-header weekend. He believes they have a good rhythm and has already identified the changes they need to make for tomorrow’s session.
