After the four Hondas had been left bottom of the timesheets in opening Qatar MotoGP practice, Marc Marquez managed to snatch an unlikely top ten place for direct Q2 access in the evening.
Once again, Marc Marquez had to rely on a tow, this time behind Francesco Bagnaia. Despite losing his best lap to yellow flags, Marquez managed to hold onto tenth place by a margin of just 0.014s. He expressed satisfaction with the results, considering it a better day than expected. Marquez plans to maintain his position and adapt to the changing track conditions during the Sprint race. On the other hand, Joan Mir also followed the towing tactic by leaving the pits behind Bagnaia. His best lap was also canceled by yellow flags, and he finished in 17th place. Mir acknowledged the challenges presented by the changing track conditions but believes they now have a better starting point for tomorrow.
