FIA expected to grant Andretti F1 licence – but will the teams agree?
According to a report, the FIA is expected to approve Andretti’s entry into Formula 1 as early as 2025. F1 and existing teams have expressed concerns about the addition of another team, fearing it could dilute the sport or impact existing prize money. However, EU sports laws may make it difficult for F1 to reject Andretti. Financial reasons seem to be the main opposition to Andretti joining, despite their strong motorsport background and partnership with General Motors. The recent rebranding from Andretti Autosport to Andretti Global suggests their intent to race worldwide, not just in the United States. Andretti Global’s CEO, Michael Andretti, expressed pride in their past accomplishments and excitement for the future, as they aim to become a global racing institution.
