WorldSBK star Alvaro Bautista has been diagnosed with hernia and disc protrusions following his most recent appearance at the Malaysian MotoGP.
Alvaro Bautista did not sustain any injuries during his wildcard appearance, but rather during a crash at Jerez a few days earlier. This impacted his return to MotoGP after winning his second consecutive WorldSBK title, as he was unable to show the expected form. After undergoing medical examinations in Madrid, he was diagnosed with a C6-C7 hernia and C5-C6 disc protrusions. Further tests will be conducted to assess potential damage to the cervical nerves, but surgery is not currently planned. Throughout the 2023 season, Bautista had a total of ten crashes, the fourth highest among all riders.
