Fernando Alonso has explained why his battle with Sergio Perez at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix was more difficult than his iconic duel with Michael Schumacher at Imola in 2005.
Alonso had a fierce battle with Perez, ultimately securing his first podium since September. The fight for the final podium spot continued until the last lap, with Alonso and Perez swapping positions. They crossed the finish line with less than a tenth of a second between them. Alonso reflected on his legendary defensive driving in 2005, noting that it was easier then without DRS. He acknowledged that the introduction of DRS in recent years made regaining positions easier. Alonso praised the Brazilian Grand Prix for providing exciting races and opportunities for Formula 1 to shine, even without the usual unpredictable weather.
