Yamaha takes advantage of MotoGP rules with new M1 engine
Yamaha, like Honda, is taking advantage of the concessions granted at the end of last year to improve their performance. These concessions include the ability for race riders to conduct private test days and develop their engines, giving them an edge over competitors without concessions. Honda has been actively testing with around 22 private events scheduled, while Yamaha initially focused on following a roadmap aligned with the European calendar for testing. Both Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins concentrated on improving the bike’s performance to break into the top five in races. Yamaha has also enlisted the expertise of Luca Marmorini from Marmotors to address the engine power deficiency. Quartararo was set to test a new engine specification after finishing seventh at Portimao, but inclement weather prevented the evaluation, leaving the decision on fitting it for another time. The upcoming race in Austin will reveal whether the new engine will be integrated into the bikes.
