Andy Cowell has mentioned that Adrian Newey’s recent remarks in the media have motivated Aston Martin’s design team to accelerate the team’s development. Newey highlighted concerns about data correlation with the simulator at Aston’s Silverstone HQ despite having top-notch equipment.
He pointed out the loop simulator as a weak spot, estimating it would take about two years to address the issue properly. However, Cowell, on the James Allen on F1 podcast, stated that his team is using Newey’s comments as a challenge to disprove his two-year timeline.
Cowell emphasized the emphasis on improvement and the need to reach higher standards quickly, contrary to Newey’s predictions. Working closely with Newey, Cowell believes they can expedite the development process, turning years into months in terms of progress.
Cowell, who previously collaborated with Newey at McLaren in 2004, notes their renewed partnership and open discussions on enhancing their operations. Despite their differences in expertise – Cowell on engine integration and Newey on car design – they share a common goal of striving for excellence within the organization.
