McLaren’s entry into the Hypercar division of the World Endurance Championship will be managed by United Autosports. The team will compete with McLaren LMDh hybrid prototypes under the McLaren United AS banner starting in 2027. This move signifies United’s progression from the LMP2 prototype division to the Hypercar ranks after establishing success in various racing categories. McLaren’s return to top-tier sportscar racing involves a partnership with Dallara for the LMDh chassis and a twin-turbo V6 engine. James Barclay will head the McLaren Racing Hypercar operation, transitioning from his role as Jaguar Formula E team principal. McLaren CEO Zak Brown emphasized United Autosports’ proven track record as a key factor in their selection as partners for this venture.
