Oliver Solberg is making a return to the World Rally Championship top tier at Rally Estonia this month, as Toyota has given him a seat in their Rally1 car.
As the current WRC2 points leader, Solberg was initially slated to compete in the WRC2 class with his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, but will now drive the Rally1 car alongside full-time Toyota drivers.
Solberg expressed his gratitude to the team for the trust placed in him, calling it a dream come true after waiting a long time for this opportunity.
This outing will mark Solberg’s first time driving Rally1 machinery at a WRC rally since Rally New Zealand in October 2022, where he achieved several notable finishes.
In preparation for Rally Estonia, Solberg and his co-driver will have a crucial test session in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 to familiarize themselves with the car’s differences and aerodynamics.
Solberg aims to build on his strong season by giving his best performance at Rally Estonia, focusing on gaining valuable experience and seat time in the Rally1 car.
