Matt Payne won the third Supercars race at Symmons Plains by executing a strategic move over the final lap to prevent Broc Feeney from a clean sweep. The mid-race safety car led some drivers to make early pitstops and hope to make their tires last for the remaining laps. Payne’s strategy paid off as he held off Feeney by a narrow margin at the checkered flag. Feeney, despite his impressive performance, narrowly missed the victory after a strong 15-lap sprint towards the front. The championship points standings have seen Feeney extend his lead over his rivals, setting the stage for the next race at Wanneroo Raceway in Perth in June.
