The valuable lessons a second-generation star will apply to IMSA in 2024
I had a strong performance in 2023, competing at a high level with the top Porsche GT drivers in IMSA every weekend. Despite being a newly formed team, AO Racing did an amazing job with the car, although the Balance of Performance wasn’t always in our favor. It was a valuable learning year for me, being the lead driver in a GTD pro-am lineup and participating in car setup. Although we didn’t achieve the desired results, I’m satisfied with how the year went.
The opportunity to join AO Racing came through Multimatic and Gunnar Jeannette, who is part of the management team. Founder PJ Hyett, who was my regular co-driver, wanted me on the team. It was a good move for me, as the team is professional and I enjoyed working with them all season. I believe they have a promising future.
One of the highlights of the season was Virginia, where I finished as the top Porsche and was pleased with my performance. Road Atlanta was also enjoyable, although we narrowly missed a podium finish. It was a challenging year, but we stayed positive and focused on our performances rather than just the results.
Looking ahead to 2024, I will be moving into the GTD Pro class with AO Racing. I will be joined by Laurin Heinrich, and it will be a tough season competing against fully professional line-ups. However, I see it as a great challenge and an opportunity to test myself. Unfortunately, we won’t be racing at Long Beach, which is one of my favorite circuits.
Only recently have I confirmed my return to AO Racing for the upcoming season. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and stepping up to GTD Pro is where I want to be.
