The Rise of a New Talent: Manu González Makes Testing Debut with Aprilia at Aragón in MotoGP

Aprilia is set to grant Manuel Gonzalez his MotoGP debut at the upcoming collective test at Aragón, as reported by Motorsport.com. The current Moto2 World Championship leader will replace Ai Ogura at Trackhouse, Aprilia’s satellite team, at the test session. Ogura, recovering from leg surgery, will be sidelined, potentially returning for the Mugello round.

González, 22, has had a stellar season in the intermediate class, with three wins and five podiums in the first seven rounds. This performance prompted Aprilia and Trackhouse to offer him a chance to ride a MotoGP prototype during Monday’s test. The test is aimed at assessing his readiness for a possible premier class promotion, although no official confirmation for next season is in place.

In addition to González, Marco Bezzecchi, Aprilia’s top rider in Martin’s absence, will also participate in the test. Raúl Fernández and Lorenzo Savadori are expected to join the testing lineup, with Fernández being Ogura’s teammate at Trackhouse. González, who debuted in Moto2 in 2021, achieved his first World Championship win last year with Gresini in Japan.
