McLaren’s Formula E team will be closing at the end of the current season due to unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer for the outfit, as per Autosport.
After deciding to compete in the World Endurance Championship from 2027, McLaren chose to exit Formula E after a three-season stint to focus on its sportscar project.
Despite efforts by team principal Ian James to secure a buyer and retain its position in the championship, no deal was finalized.
The team is expected to cease operations in September after the conclusion of the 2024-25 Formula E season.
With McLaren’s exit, drivers Sam Bird and Taylor Barnard will need new seats for the upcoming season, presenting opportunities for other Formula E teams.
