Roaring to Victory: Porritt Tigers Claim Rindt Trophy at Thruxton Retro

Chris Porritt won the Jochen Rindt Trophy feature at the British Automobile Racing Club Thruxton Retro event in a thrilling race against Rory Smith. Porritt’s victory in his 1977 Formula 2 Chevron-BDG B40 was secured by a stunning pass on Saturday, extending his lead to nearly 10 seconds. Despite Smith’s comeback on Sunday, Porritt ultimately finished just over 7 seconds ahead.

Mark Harrison finished third on both days in his March 772, while veteran racer Mike Wilds impressed in a Lyncar 005. The event also featured a GT & Sports Car Cup race, with Alex Thistlethwayte and Murray Shepherd claiming victory in an AC Cobra.

The weekend included a performance by ABBA tribute band Bjorn Again and drew a crowd of around 2500 people. The excitement of the races, including daring overtakes and unexpected incidents, kept the spectators engaged throughout the event.
