The Historic Sports Car Club celebrated the 50th anniversary of Formula Ford 2000 at Cadwell Park during the Wolds Trophy event last weekend, with a competitive 40-car grid participating in qualification races and finals.
The Historic FF2000 championship will honor the formula’s milestone throughout the year, featuring drivers vying for the Ian Taylor Trophy, in memory of the first-ever FF2000 race winner, Ian Taylor, who drove a Dulon MP16 at Mallory Park in 1975.
The series was established by John Webb of Motor Circuit Developments to provide a more affordable alternative to Formula 3, with purpose-built spaceframe chassis using Ford Pinto engines.
Graham Fennymore, a two-time Historic FF2000 champion in a Reynard SF81, claimed victory in both championship races at Cadwell, while Michael Moyers secured second place in a Reynard SF79.
Despite suspension issues in the first race, Ben Glasswell persevered to secure a podium finish in the second race after clinching victory in the morning qualification race. Various other notable drivers also showcased their skills during the highly competitive event.
