Motorsport UK CEO Hugh Chambers announced that British Formula 4’s non-championship races at the British Grand Prix support bill in Silverstone will be an “international festival of F4” with significant interest from teams. The event will feature two 25-minute contests alongside F1, F2, and F3 for the first time, a milestone target for Motorsport UK in 2022. While officially labeled as British F4, the event is expected to see an influx of European F4 drivers, possibly resulting in a grid of 30 to 36 drivers. Chambers emphasized the significance of being part of the high-profile British GP event celebrating 75 years since the first F1 world championship grand prix at Silverstone, calling it “magical”. Teams like Virtuosi are already receiving a high volume of interest, with drivers from Italy and other championships wanting to participate. This opportunity on the GP support bill is seen as a unique chance for teams and drivers to showcase themselves in front of F1 teams and potentially attract European talent to the British series.
